We haven't seen this corner look so merry in years.

Scroll down to see our favorite winter Uniqlo products, picked just for Seattleites.

Like a Phoenix, the former Macy's building at 300 Pine Street has risen from the ashes of the department store's pre-pandemic closure to become Uniqlo's first location in Seattle proper. Break out your affordable basics: It's time to celebrate.

When the international casualwear company opens November 18 in that prime location on the corner of Fourth and Pine, it won't take up the entire first floor of the building—other tenants are TBD, but Uniqlo global CEO Daisuke Tsukagoshi confirmed plans to "connect to other retailers from the inside in the future." Mall revival wasn't on our 2022 bingo card, but at this point nothing would shock us.

The store is all set up for holiday shopping.

"We have been looking to open a store in the downtown area for several years" after Uniqlo's success at its Bellevue and Southcenter locations (opened in 2015 and 2018, respectively), Tsukagoshi says. In the Seattle market, the retailer has seen a true-to-form preference for "clothing that provides comfort and quality above all else," like products made from windproof fleece and warming Heattech fabric, both of which will feature prominently in the downtown store's holiday season offerings. (Uniqlo offers clothing for adults, kids, and babies, making it a solid and reasonably priced option for gift shopping.)

The opening, like several other big-ticket arrivals in downtown Seattle as of late, comes amid genuine concerns about the neighborhood's continued vitality amid the homelessness crisis and a dearth of office workers.

It also comes amid eternal complaints, most frequently from out-of-towners, that the city's core is beyond repair. Seattle is dying, and all we got was this surprisingly cute, locally inspired, $20 graphic tee? We'll take it.

Here are some of our favorite Uniqlo picks for Seattleites:
